teaching reading & writing to cyan
dear son
have you heard about 'Steal like artist book'? i stole dear son from your papa. i would love to address the blogs for you this way.
so my dear darling son, it's time for you to pick up the sounds of letters, pattern recognition, start foundations of reading and writing. but i am noticing the challenge with the focus and interest. i am not sure how you attached this wrong notion about learning and studying, labelled them as something boring, and now resist showing up for it.
i am sorry we should have been mindful in choosing our words while talking about your education- we came out too strong . all i and your papa want is to encourage your creative expression, guard your artistic perspective, celebrate collaboration and not lose you/ourselves in some weird competition created by the environment around us in ludhiana.
it feels great when you lose yourself in creative projects- you love
- cooking- absolutely enjoying making cookies, waffles, ice creams, popcorns,
- tools
- drawing, colouring and cutting
- stories
- building tent house- sliding inside your own safe space you
- music- you are currently a big fan of dua lipa
- movies- you have watched Charlie and the chocolate factory approximately 10-12 times already.
i amazed at how universe works in mysterious ways. this reminds of a beautiful dialogue/quote from the show/book lessons in chemistry -
Surprise. Surprise? What if life is necessarily unpredictable? Maybe even the very thing that makes it possible in the first place. Is that how you build a chemical bond?
the passage explores the idea that certainty, control, predictability may not be the most fertile ground for life and relationships. Instead, surprise, the unknown, the unpredictable—all that might be the very fabric in which bonds are formed.
surprise brings the feeling of wonder. i think that's the most beautiful feeling for me, the most ecstatic state for me- to be in awe!
cyan surprise me a lot, maamaa bali even more. you put your intentions out, she magically makes things happen. i feel right now, what it feels to live in midst of magic. super grateful for everything.
i love how cyan and i have started spending evening hours drawing something he feels like, colour it, cut it and i don't want to jinx it, fingers crossed. usually i draw and then we colour together and cyan mostly cut it out himself except on some fine edges. i love how today we jammed on the drawing part of the process itself. i stumbled upon how you can draw using letters and numbers :) 'a light bulb moment- what if i can use this drawing time to teach him letters and their sounds.'
i would want to move it carefully.
to be continued...
22 Oct 2025 i could sense my heart pounding with joy to see how much you enjoy gardening with Miss Devi. How lucky to have another great teacher in your life who loves what she does- talking to plants & trees :)
25 Oct 2025 your teacher told me you love maths and you looked at me and said,"maaamaa, i love maths". you what?
i had another lightbulb moment when heard that, i don't have to teach you how to read and write if i am neither expert at this skill nor intend to acquire it, especially when i don't enjoy myself. i tried, but no. i love maths too, so i will teach you maths <3
for reading and writing project, i am collaborating with Ms. Vanessa another creative expert whom you connect with lovingly. let's see how this collaboration unfolds.
you lead the show my dear son. guide me how can i support you the best.
